SET YOUR OUTCOMES AND INTENTION

Your Path to Success

If you set a goal of running a marathon, you aren’t going to lace up your sneakers and run 26.2 miles tomorrow—your feet would never forgive you! But you can achieve your goal if you plan carefully and set milestones along the way. Taking the time to clearly define outcomes can help you turn your vision into reality.

Take the Long View

You’ve defined your vision. Now it’s time to articulate the outcome you want to achieve in the next 5 years. What skills will you have mastered? What impact will you have made?

Mark Mid-Way Milestones

Write down the big steps you need to take to reach those long-term outcomes. These mid-term outcomes are the things you’ll achieve in the next 2-3 years.

Keep it Short

Now it’s time to figure out the short-term outcomes. Decide what actions you can take in the next 90 days that will move you forward meaningfully. What are the immediate steps you can take to start making progress toward your 2–3 year and 5-year outcomes?

Consider outcomes like these as you work to identify yours:

  • Be in a position to lead multiple teams and develop people to thrive in our new organization.
  • Move internationally and become an expert in our climate business, finding a role near my family in North America.

Remember, this is your time to flex your muscles and make a difference in service of both our mission and our customers.

By setting clear outcomes and embracing the DSO approach, you'll be well on your way to achieving your vision. So, what are you waiting for? Lace up your shoes and get going!
